Port Stephens is surrounded by
several beautiful national parks that offer a range of bushwalking trails for visitors
to explore. Here are some of the top national parks and bushwalks in the area:

Tomaree National Park

Tomaree National Park is located
just a few minutes’ drive from the town of Nelson Bay, and offers several
bushwalking trails that lead to stunning lookout points with panoramic views of
the coastline. The most popular trail in the park is the Tomaree Head Summit
Walk, which takes around 30-45 minutes each way and offers stunning views of
the ocean, beaches, and the surrounding landscape.

Worimi Conservation Lands

The Worimi Conservation Lands,
also known as the Stockton Bight Sand Dunes, are the largest moving sand dunes
in the southern hemisphere, covering an area of more than 4,200 hectares.
Visitors can explore the dunes on foot, by 4WD, or by quad bike, and there are
several bushwalking trails that lead through the dunes and along the beach.

Myall Lakes National Park

Myall Lakes National Park is
located approximately 45 minutes’ drive from Port Stephens and offers a range
of bushwalking trails through the coastal forest and along the lakeshores. The
park is home to several different ecosystems, including wetlands, rainforest,
and heathland, and visitors can see a range of wildlife, including kangaroos,
wallabies, and birdlife.

Tilligerry Habitat Reserve

The Tilligerry Habitat Reserve is
a 9-hectare conservation area that offers several short bushwalking trails
through the wetlands and forest. The reserve is home to a range of wildlife,
including koalas, wallabies, and birdlife, and there is also a visitors’ centre
where you can learn more about the local flora and fauna.
